Paramedic to PA

I wrote this as a new PA student in the first few months of didactic and never finished it. I wanted to give everyone a snapshot of why and how I ended up in PA School while still making sure I stressed how much I truly loved being a Paramedic. I decided to leave it as is to be as raw and personal as possible. Reading it today, I can feel the emotions that were going through me as I struggled through each course of PA school, wondering if I was going to pass. I turned a corner once we hit cardiology and I had a new feeling of confidence but it did not get much easier. I ate a piece of humble pie today

Not that it is the first piece of humblep ie I have eaten during clincals (I am not even a huge pie fan but I'm sure at this point, I am at a bakers dozen FULL PIES) .... believe me, there have been many, MANY days. Today was somehow different though. I was with a student from another university who is on her first rotation but near the end of it. As I am just starting in this rotation, I am looking to her for guidance but also feeling relatively confident about being there. Until my Trauma ICU rotation, surgery had never been on my list of specialities I was considering. There is a running joke with my family that I could never be surgeon because I am too clumsy. Anyways... our preceptor is a General Surgeon who almost exclusively does hernia repairs and lap choles so in my first week there, I tried to learn everything I could about all of theses types of surgeries.
